Viet Nam welcomes over 4 million international tourist arrivals in 5 months

(TITC) - According to the General Statistic Office, international visitors to Viet Nam in May of 2016 estimated 757,224 arrivals, decreasing 4.1% compared to the previous month but seeing an increase of 30.2% over the same period last year.

Of which, visitors by air reached 643,894 arrivals, accounting for 85%; by sea: 15,408 and by road: 97,942, accounting for 2% and 13%, respectively.

The total number of international tourists in the first five months was 4,005,878 arrivals, up 20% over the same period of 2015, including 3,291,938 by air; 66,011 by sea and 647,929 by road.

Most of markets recorded positive growth in comparison with the same period of 2015 such as: Hong Kong (+139%), China (+44.4%), Thailand (+37.7%), the Republic of Korea (+31.4%), Sweden (+26.5%), Russia (+23.3%), Holland (+21.8%), Malaysia (+18.4%) and Taiwan (+15.2%)...

Particularly, the number of visitors from countries enjoying visa exemption under the Resolution 46/NQ-CP of Government from July 1, 2015 has been significantly rising including Italy (+30.1%), the UK (+24.4%), Spain (+22.4%), Germany (+17.65%), and France (+13%). 

In the first five months, the number of domestic trippers estimated 27.3 million which included 13.5 million overnight guests; total tourism receipts reached VND 167,464 billion, up 20.7% over the same period last year.
