Mau Son Summer Tourism Festival kicks off in Lang Son
Update: Jul 11, 2016
The Mau Son Summer Tourism Festival officially kicked off in Loc Binh District, in the northern mountainous province of Lang Son, on July 9.

According to Be Thi Thu Hien, Deputy Director of the department, together with the Winter Tourism Festival, the event aims to attract both domestic and foreign visitors to explore the locality’s beauty. She noted that ethnic groups residing on Mau Son Mountain will show their cultural identities and introduce their specialties to tourists.

Visitors to the event will have a chance to participate in a cuisine festival with traditional dishes of the Dao ethnic group, an art exhibition in old French villas and many other cultural and sport events like lion dancing, folk singing, bicycle racing and mountain climbing.

The festival, held by the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, is one of the key activities to promote local tourism and create opportunities for experience exchanges in the field, while promoting the province’s socio-economy and culture.

Located some 30km north-east of Lang Son City, Mau Son has lovely, pristine landscape, pure air and cool weather all year round. The mountain, which sometimes gets snow in winter, also has many beautiful streams and waterfalls.

Mau Son has specialties including peaches, Tuyet Son tea, wine and rare cocks with six spurs. It is home to Tay, Dao and Nung ethnic minority groups.
