Five ASEAN countries to hold art festival in Viet Nam
Update: Jul 14, 2016
Twenty-one art troupes from Viet Nam, Laos, Cambodia, Myanmar and Thailand will join an art festival in Dong Ha city, in the central province of Quang Tri from July 18-25, according to the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism’s Department of Performing Arts.

Nearly 960 artists from 17 domestic and four foreign troupes are scheduled to stage 221 performances which will vie for gold and silver medals.

Co-hosted by the department, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the International Cooperation Department, the Vietnam Dancers’ Association and the Vietnam Composers’ Association, the event is meant to foster friendship and cooperation among ASEAN member states, giving Vietnam an opportunity to popularise its art, land and people to neighboring countries.

The festival is a continuation of the past events successfully held in Quang Tri, including the Cambodia-Laos-Myanmar-Vietnam art festival, “Trans-Asia road” and Indochinese music festivals.

The five best performances will be chosen for public shows to be held in the province during the festival.
