(TITC) - Located in Kien Luong District, Kien Giang Province, Ba Lua Archipelago is the landscape site with unspoiled beauty and considered as “Ha Long Bay in the South region”.
According to the remaining traces, Ba Lua Archipelago was the last fragment of Ta Lon Mountain Range and created during the movement of the earth crust hundreds of millions of years ago. Spreading over an area of about 70km², Ba Lua Archipelago consists of more than 40 islands and islets, of which 3 islands of Dam Duong, Dam Duoc and Dam Gieng are closely spaced to form a triangle.
With an area of about 6ha, Dam Duong Island is surrounded by fine white sand strips. Since 2006, a part of the island has been planted many fruit trees as sapodilla, longan, mango, jackfruit, coconut... to become a “garden island”. Coming to Dam Duong Island, visitors will have the opportunity to view sea and enjoy a variety of fresh seafood.
About 300m south-west of Dam Duong Island, Dam Duoc Island covers an area of 12ha. This is the habitat of mangroves, so the island is called Dam Duoc (Mangrove Lagoon). Different from Dam Duong Island with white sand, Dam Duoc Island has a lot of red pebbles all over the island. Visiting Dam Duoc Island, visitors can take a rest with hammocks, and enjoy local dishes.
Dam Gieng Island is located about 100m to the north-west of Dam Duong Island. Although without tourism services, Dam Gieng also attracts visitors by unspoiled natural charm, strips of white sand, pebble… The island is called Dam Gieng (Well Lagoon) because there is a freshwater well filled with water all year around. In Dam Gieng Island, visitors can set up their own tents to rest, enjoy the island scenery, campfire in the evening...
Three Dam islands are in shallow sea area, the water rises only to adults’ waist. Therefore, to move among these three islands, visitors needn’t use boats but only wade a few hundred meters on sea. This will be an unforgettable experience for visitors. The time of low tide is the ideal time for visitors to admire the sea and catch seafood such as crabs, fishes, oysters, snails ...
From Kien Luong Wharf in Binh An Commune or Ba Hon Wharf in Kien Luong Town of Kien Luong District, taking boat for about 45 minutes, visitors will arrive in three Dam islands.
