Jetstar Pacific increases flights to Guangzhou

Budget carrier Jetstar Pacific announced on May 16 that it will add more flights on two international routes between Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City of Viet Nam and Guangzhou of China to promote travel demand.

Accordingly, each air route will have seven flights per week, rising from the current four flights on Ha Noi-Guangzhou and five flights per week on HCM City-Guangzhou route, respectively.

The additional services will be offered from July 1 to October 26, 2018. Tickets are sold from 180,000 VND per leg, excluding taxes and fees, at the airline’s website www.jetstar.com and ticket agents nationwide.

Guangzhou is China’s third largest city with a population of 14.5 million people. It is viewed as a famous economic hub and one of the biggest production centres of China and the world.

Since Jetstar Pacific launched the first flight between Viet Nam and Guangzhou in January 2017, the airline has served nearly 400,000 passengers.

Statistics from the airline showed that Viet Nam received 1.7 million holidaymakers from China in the first four months of 2018, up 39.7 percent year-on-year.

Viet Nam has been listed among 10 most favourite destinations of Chinese tourists, along with Thailand, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Singapore, the US and Italy, among others.

According to a report of the Asian investment firm CLSA, the number of Chinese visitors travelling abroad will surge to 200 million people by 2020. Spending of Chinese tourists rose from 73 billion USD in 2011 to 261 billion USD in 2016. The figure is expected to hit 429 billion by 2021.
