Can Tho receives some 5.2 million tourists

The Mekong Delta city of Can Tho greeted nearly 5.2 million domestic and foreign tourists from the start of the year, a year-on-year rise of 10.7%, grossing revenue of over VND2.18 trillion to reach 62.3% of the year’s plan, a 22.3% increase over a year earlier.

The main types of tourism in Can Tho are studying and experiencing the life of people in the water region, MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) tourism, eco-tourism, cultural-historical tourism, community tourism, and urban tourism. 

In the near future, the centrally-governed city will focus on developing high-quality eco-tourism areas such as Son islet tourism area, Tan Loc islet, Vinpearl Resort, and Nova Phu Sa Resort in Au islet.

In recent years, Can Tho has invested in infrastructure and tourism infrastructure, sustainably developed specific tourism products which are friendly to the environment; contributing to socio-economic development and deserving to be a central city of the Mekong Delta.

In 2017, the hub greeted 7.54 million tourists, making up 10% of the country’s total, up 41% from last year or a 35% increase from the plan. This included 2.18 million tourists staying overnight and more than 305,000 foreigners, grossing a turnover of nearly VND2.898 trillion.
