Discovering Mid-Autumn traditional toys at Museum of Ethnology

Visitors, especially children, in Ha Noi will have an opportunity to discover the traditional toys of the mid-autumn festival through the “Discovering Mid-Autumn toys” programme held at the Viet Nam Museum of Ethnology at 9am, on September 15.  

Participants can learn how to make traditional mid-autumn toys of Vietnamese children, including star-shaped lanterns, “paper professor”, paper masks, ‘to he’ (toy figurines), and spinning - humming tops.

The essential activities of the mid-autumn festival - lion dances, folk games, making traditional toys, moon-cakes and Vietnamese green rice flakes from the famous Vong village, will also be held during the event.

For this year's Mid-Autumn Festival, the Viet Nam Museum of Ethnology will co-ordinate with Ninh Thuan province's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism to introduce and promote the culture of Ninh Thuan province to the visitors in Ha Noi through cultural performances, displays of traditional handicrafts, Ninh Thuan cuisine and folk games of Cham and Raglai.

Southern folk artisans will give performances of folk dances, the Ginang drum, Baranung drum, Saranai trumpet, Kanhi musical instrument of Cham people and the Chapi musical instrument of Raglai people.

A programme titled “The Colors of Ninh Thuan’s culture” will be held at the Viet Nam Museum of Ethnology from September 22 to 23.
