In working sessions with Kien Giang Province, leaders of MOCST and VNAT also affirmed that the reopening of Phu Quoc to international tourism would depend on controlling the spread of Covid-19, the speed of vaccine rollout, as well as the preparation of Phu Quoc, Kien Giang.

Accordingly, the island city is promptly preparing all necessary conditions for the reopening, as health and medical service, tourist facilities, tourism workforce, procedures for serving tourists...

Vietnam would evaluate the result of Phu Quoc’s reopening to international tourism and then consider expanding to other localities. Some cities and provinces including Khanh Hoa¸ Quang Nam and Da Nang... have proposed to reopen to foreign visitors after Phu Quoc. Safety is a prerequisite to restart tourism in the context of the new normal, VNAT’s Chairman Nguyen Trung Khanh emphasized.
