Activities mark Vietnam-Germany diplomatic ties
Update: Apr 15, 2010
A series of cultural, art and sporting events were held at the Kinh Bac Culture Centre in Bac Ninh City on April 15 as part of the Bac Ninh Festival 2010 as well as celebrating 35 years of Vietnamese-German diplomatic ties.

The activities, including an arts exchange programme, a child painting contest on sewage and environmental protection, a traditional cooking contest and a football match, attracted many local people and representatives from the German Embassy in Vietnam.

The activities, held by Germany’s Liquid and Solid Waste Management project and the Bac Ninh Water Sewage and Drainage Company, are also part of the German Year 2010 in Vietnam.

The northern province of Bac Ninh is putting into action the liquid and solid waste management project in Bac Ninh City with a loan supplied by Germany.

The project is to create a liquid waste collection system for 11 wards and communes around the city and build a 6.7ha solid waste treatment plant at a cost of over VND300 billion in Kim Chan Commune.

Once completed, the project will help to improve community health thanks to better hygiene conditions in the city as well as reducing flooding and environmental pollution.
