Viet Nam joins cultural festival in New York
Update: May 26, 2014
Viet Nam joined other Asian-Pacific countries to show off their distinctive cultural features at a heritage festival in New York City on May 24.

The Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month Celebration in Suffolk county began with a parade led by the Vietnamese delegation.

The Vietnamese mission in the United Nations and representative offices in New York publicised the country’s image through the traditional dress ‘ao dai’, folk dances, handicrafts and coffee products.

The public heaped praise on dance and monochord performances by Vietnamese students in the US. Meanwhile, Vietnamese-style coffee offered at the festival also drew much attention.

The event promoted the identities of the regional nations and acted as a platform for the exchange of culture.
