Update: Jun 01, 2009
On May 29, the People’s Committee of Hoan Kiem District has opened an exhibition to promote traditional Vietnamese pottery products made in handicraft villages nationwide.

The villages include Bat Trang in Hanoi, Chu Dau in Hai Duong, Tho Ha in Bac Giang and Phu Lang in Bac Ninh.

The exhibition which will last until June 1, aims to help preserve and highlight the special features of Vietnamese traditional pottery to Hanoian’s and visitors from overseas.

Michel Van Acker, Advisor to Belgium’s Historical Archives said that the move is essential to help people understand Hanoi’s cultural value, especially the close relationship between its ancient streets and the surrounding handicraft villages.

Vietnam’s pottery products have a long history and are considered as markers throughout the ages that reflect the development of the country’s history.
