The transfer is part of renovating and improving efficiency among local aviation providers Vietnam Airlines, VASCO and Jetstar Pacific Airlines (JPA). Earlier, Vietnam Airlines transferred the operation of the Ho Chi Minh city-Rach Gia, and Ho Chi Minh city-Phu Quoc/Can Tho routes to VASCO, and the Ha Noi/Ho Chi Minh city-Tuy Hoa and Ho Chi Minh city-Chu Lai routes to JPA.

Passengers who had confirmed their tickets from Vietnam Airlines for the Ha Noi-Dien Bien and Ha Noi-Vinh routes (using ATR72-500 aircraft from France-based manufacturer Toulouse) should automatically shifted to aviation services provided by VASCO with no changes.
