Victoria Chau Doc waves travelers to ox racing
Update: Sep 14, 2009
Victoria Chau Doc Hotel will present the fun-filled “Ox Race Day” during the region’s annual Khmer Dolta Festival from September 17-19.

The festival is a unique tradition of Mekong Delta natives held in An Giang Province. The purpose of this festival is to celebrate the planting of the autumn-winter crops with colorful parades, family dinners, cultural shows, dancing and the famous ox races.

Highlighting the festival are the spectacular and frequently hilarious ox races that attract thousands of visitors from all over Vietnam and abroad. The 100m races are run in pairs on muddy paddy fields and are open to contestants from An Giang Province, nearby provinces and even from Cambodia’s Takeo Province. Nearly 100 pairs of oxen have registered to join this year’s competitive bedlam with foreign tourists also invited to try their luck!

On this occasion, Victoria Chau Doc Hotel will offer a three day/two night package at its grand colonial style hotel deep in the Mekong Delta. It is priced at US$211 per person on a twin-share basis, inclusive of service charges and taxes, and US$167 for a third person. For single travelers, a supplement of US$127 will be charged. The package includes an excursion to nearby Sam Mountain, a boat tour to the floating fish farm and Cham Village and a 45-minute massage. A special Victoria gift with a welcome drink & fruit basket will be offered upon arrival.
